To celebrate the strides that fashion has made throughout the decades, Luxury Garage Sale and the Costume Council of the Chicago History Museum, took fashion lovers on a unique journey. On this journey, we examined various iconic looks from designers such as Christian LaCroix, Oscar De La Renta, and Chanel. Through these looks, guests learned tips and tricks for how they can incorporate vintage pieces into their wardrobe.
As evident from the Peter Som and Victor & Rolf ensemble, denim on denim has been making a steady comeback. This trend became prominent in the 80’s and can still be worn today. Guests were shown that mixing patterns is also acceptable through the display of a vintage Gianni Versace polka dot skirt and a Max Mara striped jacket. This look was completed with a rare edition of a heart-shaped Chanel bag. And one trend that seems to never go out of style is the 70’s Bohemian chic trend. This would be displayed through the vintage Zandra Rhodes printed beaded gown which was perfect for resort wear while on vacation.

What the presentation ultimately revealed is that many of the pieces shown were timeless and stood the test of time. It was almost difficult to tell what was vintage and what was new, as any of the items could be worn today. Unlike other fashion shows, through this presentation every single item was available for sale direct from Luxury Garage. This means that if you saw something you liked, you would be able to go home with that item right away.

Prior to the presentation, guests perused through Luxury Garage space as they were treated to a private shopping experience. While they shopped around the racks of designer clothing, they sipped on champagne and delighted themselves in sweet Luxury Garage monogrammed cupcakes.
Within the intimate setting, guests would travel through time as they took a closer look at fashion through the decades through the pieces of Luxury Garage Sale. The seating was carefully organized allowing each guest to get the perfect view of all of the items that were to be presented before them. Essentially, everyone was given the front row treatment.
Nena Ivon who serves as the Costume Council President served as the fashion curator of the event. She applied her fashion expertise while carefully selecting and styling items taken from the Luxury Garage Sale inventory. Her selections were then paraded about the Luxury Garage space for the chic guests of the evening.

One thing that is evident about the fashion of our time is that back then people sure knew how to make a statement. Metallics, dazzling jewels, and bright colors are mainstays throughout their bountiful collection. Expect a truly one of a kind and exclusive items when shopping at Luxury Garage.
While the selections are certainly breathtaking, the founders Brielle Buchberg and Lindsay Segal wanted to change the scene of consignment shopping by providing a white glove experience for the consignor, as well as the shopper. Since they do carry such a high value of largely coveted brands, each item goes through the on-staff authenticators to determine its authenticity.
