2015 Black Harvest Film Festival
Beginning on August 8th, the Siskel Film Center will celebrate the achievements of Black Film with the 21st Annual Black Harvest. The month-long celebration will document varying stories about the black experience ranging from stories told about the Black Panther movement, to stories of growing up on the south side of Chicago.
As viewers watch the films, they are introduced to thought-provoking subject matter that highlights the black experience. For movie attendees with burning questions, some of the screenings will even have the actors and actors present available for a discussion.
Step Up Foundation Shine & Dine
Join the Step Up Foundation for their 5th Annual Shine & Dine on August 13th presented by Allstate. Over 700 guests will descend upon the Bridgeview Lofts as they take in breathtaking views of the city while sampling decadent bites from some of Chicago’s top eateries.
The proceeds of this event will raise vital funds for the Step Up Foundation’s mentoring programs which encourage young girls to live to their best potential.

Birchbox Road Trip: Chicago
Your favorite subscription service Birchbox is taking the show on the road with their Birchbox Road Trip! From August 14th-August 16th, Birchbox and the gang will be transforming two shipping containers (one for men and one for women) into the ultimate product junkie paradise. There will also be a retail space where one can shop specially curated items for the Chicago pop-up.
In addition to the beautification, there will also be influencer events and celeb appearances throughout the weekend. Special guests include Kaitlin Doubleday, Grace Gealey, and Gabourey Sidibe of the hit show “EMPIRE”
2015 Chicago Dancing Festival
Beginning on August 25th, dance companies from all over the US will descend upon the Windy City for the 9th Annual Chicago Dancing Festival. Lovers of dance will have the opportunity to view free performances from the nation’s top dance companies at the Harris Theater, Museum of Contemporary Art and the Pritzker Pavillion.
On August 29th the festival will close with Chicago’s Joffrey Ballet at the Pritzker Pavillion.
The Chicago Dancing Festival is one of the first free festivals of its kind with free performances that are open to the public.
