After attending many weddings throughout my 25 years of life, nothing could have prepared me for the rambunctious wedding of Tony Nunzio and Tina Vitale.

Who’s Tony and Tina?
You’re probably wondering what is my relation to Tony and Tina and how was I invited to their wedding? Well, there is absolutely zero relation because Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding is not a real wedding. While it may seem like the real thing, it’s an Off-Broadway Show that’s staged as a festive celebration. Because of the impeccable improv skills from the actors and the lively entertainment, there are many times where you have to remind yourself that you aren’t the long life friends of Tony & Tina. Audience goers become more than attendees but members of this big and vivacious Italian family.
The Ceremony
Our wild night started at Resurrection Church for the official wedding ceremony of Tony n’ Tina. It is important to note that this is the first time that Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding had taken place at an actual church so this created a very realistic experience. Kudos for the Chicago production team for going above and beyond with the experience!During the ceremony, my date and I witness all types of crazy family drama ensue from the balcony. Groomsmen make crude jokes, the mother of the bride could hardly control her tears, and Tina’s cousins seem to make the wedding all about themselves. While a little over the top at times, I would say this could be an accurate reflection of a few weddings I’ve attended. Let’s be honest, we all secretly hope for some wedding drama and laughs and you get just that at Tony n’ Tina’s.
The Reception
Once the ceremony concludes, guests are then escorted to Vinnie Black’s Coliseum where the festivities continue. Along the walk to the venue, actors engage with the guest with humorous improvisation. There were a few awkward moments where cast members asked how long my date and I had been married (We are definitely not married) And I was shamed for my lack of cooking skills. The playful banter is not for the shy at heart, so beware if you prefer to be a passive audience member.
After our walk of insults and laughs, we enter the venue and then sit at our respective tables. However, we didn’t sit for long as the caterer of the wedding told us that we were part of the champagne toast. We were escorted out of our chairs and they lined us up single file. We were given very easy instructions; when the champagne pops, just spin and twirl. And spin and twirl we did. While chairs are provided, to really get in on all the fun you’ll need to get out of your seat multiple times. Once again let me repeat, this is not for the wall flower so stay home if you have no intentions of having fun.
Final Thoughts
Throughout the night there were various moments with dancing and jubilee. The entire party danced along to the vintage classic Y.M.C.A. and other 80’s classics. There was even a terrible rendition of Purple Rain but it was all in good fun. Once we worked up our appetite we indulged in pasta and salad. The food was a lovely addition because the experience is so worth it even without dinner included.By the end of the night, it felt like we were all one big happy Italian family.
