In order to create the cool and refined atmosphere we see today, Patrick enlisted the help of John Wolf of Wolf Home Designs. Calling Presidio a restaurant or a bar seems almost improper. There is a strong attention to detail throughout the entire space. As you look around you’ll even notice coffee table books and vases that give off the appearance of visiting your posh friend’s home. Guests can expect to see plush velvet seating, calf-hair bar stools, minimalistic artwork, and decorative candles to add just a touch of light to the moody space.
If the decor is any indicator of what this establishment is serving; then you already know that the cocktails and delectable bites were also going to be of the highest quality. The cocktails at Presidio are one of a kind drinks with a special twist that you won’t be able to find anywhere else. For a twist on the traditional cobbler check out Presidio’s “Banana Cobbler”. This beverage features Palo Cortado sherry, caramelized banana, syrup, nutmeg, lemon and it is gently garnished with freeze dried bananas. When I was first served this drink, I was told that it was a more interactive experience. To gather the full experience of this drink, take a bite out of the freeze dried banana then sip on the drink shortly after. Or, if you want to take my lead I drank the entire drink then was left with chips of freeze dried banana. In hindsight, I’ll be sure to take the bartender’s advice for the next time.
Another standout on the menu is the “Fools Rush In” cocktail. This was by far my favorite cocktail off the menu. This drink features Japanese whiskey, with touches of maple and orange and it was garnished with a flower. “Fools Rush In” let off a floral aroma that made the drink quite refreshing. The citrus elements also created a nice smooth drink. The whiskey was also not too strong which leaves you wanting more. To be quite blunt, I could have had several “Fools Rush In” cocktails.
To best compliment your beverage, Presidio offers a menu of savory offerings such as the Lobster Salad, Pisco Cured Salmon, Spiced Lamb Meatballs, and Whipped Goat Cheese. Of the selections, the Lobster Salad was the clear standout for me. This dish left me wanting seconds, as I had a sample each time the server came around.
For a chic atmosphere, well-crafted cocktails, and delicious bites; it’s always a safe bet to sit back and relax at Presidio. I’m sure Bucktown is glad to have this chic and sophisticated addition to the neighborhood.
Presidio will open to the public for all to enjoy March 5th.
