Vertigo Sky Lounge is located in the Dana Hotel and Spa and is the only year-round rooftop lounge in Chicago. If you just can’t wait till the summer to get your rooftop fix, then I highly recommend Vertigo.
For the launch, the lounge was transformed into an icy oasis featuring a garden of ice sculptures surrounded by torches and a pit of fire. If you needed a seat amidst the world of ice, perhaps you would like to be seated on the perfectly sculpted ice sofa accompanied by an ice table and stools.
For a cool and refreshing drink, one could get something at the 15-foot ice bar with drinks by Svedka Vodka. You are probably thinking that being surrounded in ice in the middle of Chicago must have been unbearable, which is why you could always retreat to the giant fire pit to get some warmth. For some campfire fun, there was a s’mores station with all of the necessary ingredients needed to make the perfect s’more. Partygoers got creative with their s’more roasting techniques. They opted for the larger flames instead of the designated burners. Many a marshmallow were completely toasted, but it got the job done.
While there was no shortage of activity outside, maybe freezing out in the cold isn’t your style so you could always step inside for some warmth.
Inside there was plenty of plush seating, as well as spectacular views of the city. For a nice cool treat, one could design their own custom spiked snow cone. VIP’s of the evening were treated to light bites. They were served cheese, chips, vegetarian rolls and fruit. As far as drinks, it was almost impossible to not have a drink in your hand provided by Svedka Vodka. Delicious winter-inspired cocktails and shots were provided all night long.
Whether you want to relax and mingle or be daring and have fun in the cold, you are guaranteed to have a great time at Vertigo Sky Lounge’s Arctic White Nights. Arctic White Nights in the lounge will be open nightly till midnight until the end of the winter season. For more information on Vertigo Sky Lounge go to VertigoSkyLounge.com
Special thanks to Svedka as well as SunTimes Splash for giving us a taste of a winter wonderland. Be sure to dress warmly if you plan on being outside. My toes took a full 24 hours to recover because I thought I would be cute and wear some ankle boots. While they do offer robes, think to yourself would you walk out of your house in only your bathrobe when it’s 20 degrees? Dress warm and you will most certainly have a great time both indoors and outdoors
